The \u201cServer with a GUI\u201d option is the Windows Server 2012 equivalent of<br \/>\nthe Full installation option available in Windows Server 2008 R2. The \u201cServer Core Installation\u201d<br \/>\noption reduces the space required on disk, the potential attack surface, and especially the<br \/>\nservicing requirements, so we recommend that you choose the Server Core installation unless<br \/>\nyou have a particular need for the additional user interface elements and graphical management<br \/>\ntools that are included in the \u201cServer with a GUI\u201d option. For this reason, the Server Core<br \/>\ninstallation is now the default.
