Fix packs contain multiple corrections and improvements in the areas of function, security, stability, and performance. It is recommended that you run your WebSphere with current fix pack levels.<\/div>\n<h2>PROCEDURE<\/h2>\n<div>1.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Download the Update Installer for WebSphere Software<\/div>\n<div>2.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Install the Update Installer.<\/div>\n<div>3.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Extract the Update Installer package to a temporary directory.<\/div>\n<div>4.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Navigate to the UpdateInstaller subdirectory and start the installation wizard with the following command:<\/div>\n<div><b>a.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>Windows:<\/b>\u00a0install.exe<\/div>\n<div><b>b.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>UNIX\/Linux:\u00a0<\/b>.\/install<\/div>\n<div>Follow the instructions in the wizard. When the Installation summary panel is displayed, review the summary which provides links to information resources for the Update Installer. Click Next to begin the installation or click Back to make changes to previous panels. After the installation process completes, verify the success of the installer program.<\/div>\n<div>5.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Download packages to the maintenance directory:<\/div>\n<div><b>a.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>\u00a0Windows:<\/b><i>was_root_dir<\/i>\\UpdateInstaller\\maintenance<\/div>\n<div><b>b.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>UNIX\/Linux:\u00a0<\/b><i>was_root_dir<\/i>\/UpdateInstaller\/maintenance<\/div>\n<div>6.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Stop all WebSphere Application Server and IBM HTTP Server processes.<\/div>\n<div>7.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Backing up a repository using backupConfig<\/div>\n<div>a.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0C:\\WebSphere\\AppServer\\bin&gt;backupConfig\u00a0\u00a0-nostop<\/div>\n<div>8.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0Install the maintenance packages.<\/div>\n<div>Navigate to the UpdateInstaller directory in the was-root-di&gt; and start the application with the following command:<\/div>\n<div><b>a.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>Windows:<\/b>\u00a0update.bat<\/div>\n<div><b>b.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/b><b>UNIX\/Linux:\u00a0<\/b>.\/update.sh<\/div>\n<div>On the Product Selection page, select the installation location from the dropdown list, type it into the edit box, or use Browse to browse to select the location.<\/div>\n<div>On the Maintenance Operation Selection page, select Install maintenance package.<\/div>\n<div>On the Maintenance Package Directory Selection page, specify the location of the downloaded fix packs (<i>was_root_dir<\/i>\\UpdateInstaller\\maintenance.).<\/div>\n<div>On the Available Maintenance Package to Install page, accept the selection for recommended updates.
