After hearing the news that CentOS 7 had been published, I decided to install it on my computer. I downloaded the ISO image from the CentOS official website (the one named\u00a0<\/span>CentOS-7.0-1406-x86_64-DVD.iso) and then burned it onto a USB drive by using a tool named UltraISO.<\/p>\n

After that, I rebooted my computer and pressed\u00a0<\/span>F12<\/kbd>to choose my boot device. (My GIGABYTE motherboard uses\u00a0<\/span>F12<\/kbd>\u00a0<\/span>to choose a boot device.) I chose this:\u00a0<\/span>UEFI: hp v245o 1100, where\u00a0<\/span>hp v245o 1100\u00a0<\/span>is the USB name, and I suppose this is a so-called\u00a0<\/span>EFI boot from USB<\/em>. After that, three menu selections are presented:<\/p>\n

  1. Install CentOS 7,<\/li>\n
  2. Test this media & install CentOS 7,<\/li>\n
  3. and Troubleshooting \u2013>.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    At first I decided to choose option 1 to let it display all its running messages, so I typed\u00a0<\/span>e<\/kbd>\u00a0<\/span>and here is what I get:<\/p>\n

    So I removed the\u00a0<\/span>quiet\u00a0<\/span>param and pressed\u00a0<\/span>CTRL<\/kbd>x<\/kbd>\u00a0<\/span>to start, then I got this:<\/p>\n

    \u00a0<\/span>have no idea what the fb is, and the installation process just stopped there.<\/p>\n

    So I decided to try the 3rd option (the\u00a0<\/span>Troubleshooting \u2013>\u00a0<\/span>one) with no luck; I still cannot install this CentOS 7 and I got something like:<\/p>\n

    How I can solve this problem?<\/p>\n

    Answer:<\/b><\/p>\n

    I think you must make bootable usb using\u00a0<\/span>dd\u00a0<\/span>command (if your iso is in home directory):<\/p>\n

    First unmount (not<\/em>\u00a0<\/span>eject) the usb:\u00a0<\/span>sudo umount \/dev\/sdb1<\/p>\n

    Then, write the image to the disk:<\/p>\n

    Then it will not show\u00a0<\/span>\/dev\/root\u00a0<\/span>does not exist.<\/p>\n
