As everyone know, the hard reboots is not good and can crash the File systems. so what to do now?<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>There is a way in Linux,<\/div>\n<div>\nHold down the <strong>Right Alt<\/strong> and <strong>SysRq<\/strong> keys and press this sequence:<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0 R E I S U B<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will cleanly unmount the drives, terminate the processes and nicely reboot your machine.<\/p>\n<p>of course, To get this worked, you need to \u201cenable\u201d this feature on the running kernel first !<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<strong>On 2.6 kernel<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>echo 1 &gt; \/proc\/sys\/kernel\/sysrq<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This will do the trick.<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\nIn Some distributions, you may have a way to enable this feature at boot time.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>On Fedora and RHEL, edit the file <strong>\/etc\/sysctl.conf<\/strong>, and change the line <strong>kernel.sysrq = 0<\/strong> to <strong>kernel.sysrq = 1<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Hope this helps to some one..!<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Clean reboot of hung Linux server<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p> In day to day system administration job, you may come across the situation that your Linux server is hung or freeze and your system is not responding even for Ctrl+Alt+Del in console itself and you must need to do a hard reboot by pressing reset button.
