In this only\u00a0one\u00a0network card\u00a0will be\u00a0activein one time, and when it got failed the other network card goes active and let us continue our work.<\/p>\n<p>It is better to use through\u00a0SMIT.<\/p>\n<p>#smit<\/p>\n<p>then goto<\/p>\n<p>Devices &gt; Communication &gt; EtherChannel \/ IEEE 802.3ad Link Aggregation &gt; Add An EtherChannel \/ Link Aggregation<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"more\"><\/a><br \/>\nhere select the network card that you want to use, ie active.<\/p>\n<p>Eg: select\u00a0ent0<\/p>\n<p>IMP :\u00a0then select\u00a0Mode\u00a0as\u00a08023ad<\/p>\n<p>then select\u00a0backup adapter\u00a0for redundancy.(press F4 to show N\/W adapters.)<\/p>\n<p>Eg:\u00a0ent1<\/p>\n<p>press enter.<\/p>\n<p>now\u00a0ent0\u00a0and\u00a0ent1\u00a0got bonded.<\/p>\n<p>then automatically a virtual adapter will be created named\u00a0ent2.<\/p>\n<p>then put\u00a0IP address\u00a0and all to this\u00a0virtual adapter.<\/p>\n<p>#smit<\/p>\n<p>Communications Applications and Services &gt; TCP\/IP &gt; Minimum Configuration &amp; Startup<\/p>\n<p>here select\u00a0ent2\u00a0( new bonded virtual adapter )<\/p>\n<p>put IP Address and all,<\/p>\n<p>give\u00a0start now\u00a0option.<\/p>\n<p>Now you are successfully completed Link aggregation and\u00a0checkwhether\u00a0it works or not\u00a0by removing the 2nd cable to the network card and check ping, then put the 2nd cable and remove 1st cable. 2 &#8211; 3 drops normally occurs in my experience.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Configuring Link Aggregation ( Network Bonding ) in AIX<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Link aggregation means you can give one IP address to two network cards and connect to two different switches for redundancy purpose.
