Problem(Abstract)
This document shows the correct directories to delete when clearing WebSphere 7.0 cache
Symptom
New changes, such as Fix Pack, Interim Fix Pack, LAFIX/hot fix or XML changes do not take affect after deploying new maximo.ear file.
Resolving the problem
Follow the steps below to clear the WebSphere application server cache when deploying the maximo.ear.
Add this procedure of clearing WebSphere cache every time you rebuild and redeploy the ear files.
1. Shut down MXServer.
2. Uninstall the Maximo enterprise application completely.
3. Delete cached files from temp, tranlog, wstemp and, optionally, logs directories:
Windows (where the WebSphere location is c:\program files\ibm\websphere\appserver, the application server profile is called ctgAppSrv01, the node is called ctgNode01, and the Maximo server is called MXServer). *.* means contents of the named directory:
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\ctgAppSrv01\temp\ctgNode01\MXServer\*.*
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\ctgAppSrv01\tranlog\ctgCell01\ctgNode01\MXServer\*.*
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\ctgAppSrv01\wstemp\*.*
(optional) C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\ctgAppSrv01\logs\MXServer\*.*
Unix (where the WebSphere location is /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/ctgAppSrv01, the application server profile is called ctgAppSrv01, the node is called ctgNode01, and the Maximo server is called MXServer). *.* means contents of the named directory:
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/ctgAppSrv01/temp/ctgNode01/MXServer/*.*
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/ctgAppSrv01/tranlog/ctgCell01/ctgNode01/MXServer/*.*
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/ctgAppSrv01/wstemp/*.*
(optional) /opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/ctgAppSrv01/logs/MXServer/*.*
4. Delete MAXIMO.ear from installedApps, both the contents of the directory and the directory itself:
Windows (locations as above):
C:\Program Files\IBM\WebSphere\AppServer\profiles\ctgAppSrv01\installedApps\ctgCell01\MAXIMO.ear
Unix (locations as above):
/opt/IBM/WebSphere/AppServer/profiles/ctgAppSrv01/installedApps/ctgCell01/MAXIMO.ear
You do not need to delete MXIEHS.ear directory.
5. Deploy the Maximo enterprise application. If using LDAP server authentication, make sure that the permissions are set as previously for the Maximo enterprise application.
6. Synchronize nodes. System Administration > Nodes, check the node to synchronize, then click the Synchronize button.
[Use Full resynchronize if you have made manual file edits on the node. Deploying a Maximo ear does not make manual file edits on the node, so it should not be necessary to use this function. Full synchronize can take a much longer to complete. If Synchronize fails immediately, manual synchronization will be necessary.]
7. Restart MXServer.
MySQL has a lot of visual management tools, such as “mysql-workbench” and “sequel-pro-“. Now I’m writing MySQL terminal command operation is to strengthen the understanding of yourself for MySQL, always be better than using a graphical thorough understanding, because I already prefer to write code. Meanwhile write these articles, you want to be a reference, and hopefully be helpful to everyone, has improved, which is why I write articles of MySQL terminal operation.
Note: MySQL database commands are not case sensitive. But in the MAC of the terminal, if you want to use the tab to automatically complete the command, then you must use uppercase, so MAC terminal will help you complete the command, otherwise you will not be according to N times the response tab.

Oils are essential for operations of our body. Here are some best known natural oils and cocktails for improving hair health and hair growth. Of course you should be careful not to overdo it and just selecting a few of these oils, and often switching them is a good idea. Over time, you will figure out which specific oils give results in your specific case. For example, some people react better to coconut oil vs mustard oil vs olive oil.
Massage the scalp with warm organic coconut oil (heat it slightly in a double boiler or in a microwave for a few seconds), apply it on the hair and leave for at least 30-45 minutes. To increase the absorption of oil you can do a Saran wrap.
Coconut oil is one of the best oils recommended for hair growth because it prevents the loss of protein from your hair. Moreover, it stimulates circulation, prevents dandruff, and reduces head lice infestation.
You can follow hot oil deep conditioning treatments about once or twice in a week. If you want to soak your hair in oil for longer, then after applying the oil, wrap a soft towel around your hair, and leave it overnight.
Boil some fresh curry leaves in coconut oil until the leaves turn black. Cool and strain the oil. Massage this oil generously onto your hair and scalp two times in a week to stimulate hair growth.
Like curry leaves, you can boil dry amla pieces (Indian gooseberry) in coconut oil.
Similarly, you can boil ten Chinese Hibiscus flowers in two cups of coconut oil until they become charred and use the resultant oil to augment hair growth.
Massaging antioxidant rich, extra-virgin olive oil on the scalp aids in circulation, thereby encouraging hair growth. It stops DTH production on the scalp and hence prevents hair loss. In addition, olive oil works as a natural conditioner and scalp disinfectant.
Another recipe with olive oil involves adding three drops each of cedar wood oil, thyme oil, two drops each of rosemary, lavender, peppermint essential oil, and half a teaspoon of grated ginger in a quarter cup of organic olive oil.
Add organic honey and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder in warm olive oil. Massage this paste on your scalp, let it sit for 15 minutes and then wash it off.
Apply castor oil or a combination of two tablespoons of castor oil mixed with four drops of rosemary essential oil to reduce hair loss.
Being rich in fatty acids and vitamin E, pure argan oil works wonders in nourishing damaged hair, encouraging hair growth, taking care of curly hair, and protecting your tresses from ultraviolet rays and environmental pollution. Moroccan argan oil is quite popular in this regard.
Emu oil promotes hair growth and fights baldness by revitalizing dormant hair follicles and inhibiting 5 alpha reductase.
This enzyme that converts testosterone into DHT which, in turn, causes hair loss. Moreover, it has ant-inflammatory and anti-microbial properties.
Eucalyptus oil stimulates blood flow and thus increases hair growth. Furthermore, it revitalizes dull hair, treats dandruff, improves hair texture, and promotes hair elasticity and luster.
Amla oil serves as an excellent Ayurvedic remedy for reducing loss of hair.
Sweet almond oil helps in reducing issues like hair loss, hair fall, and breakage; helps ease scalp irritation and inflammation, too.
Grape seed oil is a light oil that nourishes the scalp and makes hair grow fast. It can be applied on all types of hair. In fact, it is helps make curly hair manageable.
Jojoba oil is similar oil that absorbs quickly and does not make your hair too greasy after application. Pure jojoba oil is hypoallergenic.
Wheat germ oil, rich in a variety of fatty acids (longer than the ones present in coconut oil), vitamin A, vitamin B complex, vitamin D, vitamin E, choline, and so on, is considered effective for growing long hair.
You may use wheat germ oil in combination with coconut milk and aloe vera gel to nourish your hair and increase hair growth.
Another remedy involves massaging the scalp with two tablespoons of castor oil mixed with three drops of tea tree oil. Leave for at least half an hour and then shampoo. You can follow this treatment once daily.
Avocado oil, being rich in amino acids and antioxidants, nourishes damaged hair and encourages healthy growth of hair. It is effective for deep conditioning.
Flaxseed oil, being rich in essential fatty acids, stimulates hair and nail growth. Furthermore, you can make a flaxseed gel at home to manage curly hair.
Pure nettle oil works as a hair tonic.
Pumpkin seed oil inhibits DHT (Dihydrotestosterone) production, testosterone and androgen levels. Therefore, it assists in controlling hair loss. DHT blocks the hair follicles from absorbing proteins.
Essential oils like that of rosemary, thyme, sage, lavender, cedarwood, peppermint, Roman chamomile, lemon, grapefruit, cypress, carrot root, geranium, ylang ylang, etc. can be mixed in carrier oil and massaged on the scalp to accelerate hair growth.
Rosemary oil, in particular, is high beneficial for hair growth. In case you do not want to buy it, prepare the oil yourself by placing the herb in a glass bottle, adding oil of your choice (olive oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, sesame oil, etc.).
Let this solution sit for two to four weeks. Apart from applying this herb externally, regularly drink two cups of rosemary tea.
Best Natural Oil Cocktails for your hair
Apply a mixture of one teaspoon of vitamin E oil, two ounces of grape seed oil, six ounces of extra-virgin coconut oil, ten drops of rosemary oil, ten drops of eucalyptus oil and ten drops of tea tree oil.
Add 3 ml jojoba oil, three drops each of lavender oil, rosemary oil, and two drops each of thyme and cedar wood oil in 20 ml grape seed oil. Massage with this oil and leave for at least 30 minutes.
Mix a quarter cup each of jojoba oil, vitamin E oil, 15 drops of rosemary essential oil, and the same quantity of peppermint oil/eucalyptus oil. Massage your scalp with this oil blend daily before going to bed and leave it overnight.
Grapeseed oil is non-greasy, odorless, and colorless essential oil offering plenty of uses for human. The oil is widely known as an excellent compound to nourish hair and scalp in many different ways. It can moisturize scalp, promote hair growth, strengthen hair structure, combat dandruff, and more.
Main Benefits
Some of the best benefits of grapeseed oil for hair are listed as follows.
1. Helps hair grow faster
Although more scientific evidences are still required to prove that grapeseed oil does help hair to grow faster, the well-known fact is that the essential oil contains almost all important nutrients for hair to grow healthily. It has vitamin E, linoleic acid, proteins, and minerals that nourish the hair and scalp almost instantly after the oil is topically applied. In general, your hair is more likely to grow faster and stronger if it is provided with enough supply of vitamin E and other important nutrients.
2. Combats dandruff
Dandruff is probably the most common hair problem in adults as well as children. This is commonly triggered by dry scalp, but since grapeseed oil is an excellent moisturizer, it can help to combat dandruff from the source of the problem. Furthermore, the oil also penetrates the scalp and improves blood circulation to it. In infants, dandruff is often related to cradle cap, yet grapeseed oil is able to remove flakes of skin and keep the scalp moisturized.
3. Moisturizes scalp and hair
scalp and hair massage. As mentioned earlier, grapeseed oil helps to moisturize both scalp and hair. The oil is very light and it can penetrate easily into the scalp, so it goes directly to every hair cuticle, seals the moisture, and strengthens every hair strand. If well moisturized, the hair is no longer vulnerable to breakage, brittleness, or split ends. To get the best results, you can use grapeseed oil for hot oil treatment regularly to keep nourishing your hair and scalp.
4. Makes hair shiny
Hot oil treatment by using grapeseed oil makes your hair looks shiny not oily. It is naturally very light or non-greasy, but it can greatly moisturize and seal the moisture. It creates very thin coat on every strand of your hair that protects it from dry or brittleness, while it provides nourishment from the hair roots.
5. Helps to strengthen hair
The nature of grapeseed oil is that it is quickly absorbed by the scalp. Therefore, it moisturizes and nourishes the hair from the roots all the way down to the tip of every hair. With significant supply of vitamins, the hair roots can absorb every essential nutrient and deliver it to each hair strand. This process can help to strengthen hair structure, so you can healthily grow long hair without any problem.
6. Good natural conditioner
If you are struggling with dry or damaged hair problems, you can also benefit from grapeseed oil as it is a good natural conditioner. Even better, you can mix it with other essential oils if necessary. There are indeed various types of ready-made hair conditioner products available in the market. If you are looking more natural solution, grapeseed oil can be a good choice.
7. Can be applied on all hair types
The best benefit of grapeseed oil for hair is that it is hypoallergenic. It means the oil can be used or applied to all skin types including sensitive scalps. In most cases, it is safe to apply this oil to even the most sensitive scalps such as in children or infants.
How to Use Grapeseed Oil Easily
Grapeseed oil is indeed useful when used for hair treatment. Nonetheless, to get the entire benefits of grapeseed oil on hair, you need to apply it correctly. The following passages provide instructions on how to prepare and apply it easily.
1. Create a mixture
Grapeseed oil picture. You can use grapeseed oil for your hair without any additive or you can mix it with other essential oils if necessary. The basic rule is that you need to pour a drop of another essential oil for every 4 tablespoons of grapeseed oil. Make the mixture inside a plastic bag and swish it for some seconds.
2. Immerse in hot water
Fill your sink with hot water. It is probably necessary to put a plug in your sink to prevent the water from flowing out. Immerse the plastic bag in the hot water for several minutes to warm the mixture.
3. Wash your hair
Meanwhile, wash your hair thoroughly with a shampoo. Rinse the shampoo and dry your hair.
4. Apply the grapeseed oil
The grapeseed oil in the plastic bag should be hot enough after you wash your hair. Now you need to gather your hair as if you want to make a ponytail. Please check the oil temperature before applying to make sure that the oil is not too hot. Simply apply the oil starting at the base to the tip of your hair. Do not use the entire supply of hot oil, so you can use the remaining oil to massage your scalp gently.
Let the oil to penetrate the hair and scalp for approximately 20 minutes. Next, rinse the oil using warm water, and then repeat the rinsing once again using cool water.
5. Alternative method
You can also wrap a warm towel over your head after applying the oil to your hair and scalp. Dip a towel in warm water, wring out the water, and cover your head with it. Leave it for 30 minutes before rinsing the oil with a shampoo.
6. Repeat regularly
For the best results, repeat this hot oil treatment twice a week or as needed. If you are not sure about which type of essential oil to mix with grapeseed oil, you need to consult your doctor in order to avoid allergic reactions. You can also try to apply any mixture to a small area of your skin to test it. Another important thing is that you should not comb the hair while it is still wet after the treatment because it can lead to breakage.
Conclusion
The greatest benefit of grapeseed oil for hair is that it is naturally non-greasy and it contains important nutrients for healthy hair growth. It can be easily absorbed and it does not leave a considerable amount of residue on hands or scalp. Grapeseed oil is as well odorless and colorless, so it does not alter your natural hair color.
WHY USE GRAPESEED OIL:
1. It is inexpensive. Compared to your more popular hair oils, this one is fairly inexpensive. Depending on where you purchase your grapeseed oil, it can cost almost 30-40% less than extra virgin olive oil or extra virgin coconut oil. It also much cheaper and more accessible than jojoba oil.
2. It protects against moisture loss. Grapeseed oil contains a high amount of linoleic acid, a type of omega-6 fatty acid. Research has demonstrated that when applied to the skin, this fatty acid can help combat dryness by providing protection against moisture loss (Source). This may be good news for a dry scalp.
3. It is fairly light. The consistency of grapeseed oil is somewhere between that of jojoba oil and olive oil (though much closer to jojoba oil). Thus, if you find olive oil to be too heavy or want an alternative to jojoba oil, grapeseed oil may be worth a try.
4. It is odorless. Grapeseed oil is odorless which makes it easier to use alone or in recipes without needing to add a fragrance (e.g., an essential oil).
HOW TO USE GRAPESEED OIL:
1. As a sealant. Depending on your hair, grapeseed oil may work just fine as a sealant after a good wash and conditioning session. Just apply the oil to damp hair to lock in the moisture.
2. To enhance a moisturizer. This oil can be used to enhance your current moisturizer. Mix a little bit with your moisturizer to increase moisture retention.
3. To alleviate a dry scalp. As discussed earlier, linoleic acid has been demonstrated to provide a protection against moisture loss when applied to the skin. Since grapeseed oil consists of a very high amount (~70%) of this fatty acid, it can aid in alleviating a dry scalp.
4. Mix into a whipped butter. Grapeseed oil can mix well into whipped butters and increase the moisturizing/sealant properties of your mixture.
5. As a hot oil treatment. Use the oil alone or mixed with other oils as a hot oil treatment prior to your wash.
CAN GRAPESEED OIL BE USED AS HEAT PROTECTANT?
Though the oil has a high smoke point (some sources quote 400 to 450 degrees Fahrenheit), this characteristic does not translate into it being adequate as a heat protectant. A high smoke point indicates that the oil requires a higher temperature to break down and start smoking. In other words, grapeseed oil may not degrade before reaching 400 degrees Fahrenheit but your hair might. In contrast, a heat protectant contains a formulation of ingredients that actually helps to reduce the transfer of heat to the cortex of the hair (Source). That being said, it is much safer to use a commercial heat protectant than to experiment with grapeseed oil as a possibility.
Firstly, avocado oil is not a significant source of protein. It is an oil after all and the whole purpose of extracting an oil is the removal of proteins, carbohydrates and any other substances that aren’t fat based. Take a look at the nutritional information on a bottle of it and you will usually see the protein content listed as zero.
While fresh avocados are a great source of vitamins and minerals, the oil itself does not contain the same sort of broad spectrum of these nutrients.
Even cold pressed avocado oil, with its gentle manufacturing process, is still created by separating the oil from the rest of the pulp. Obviously, many water soluble vitamins like vitamins C and the B vitamins will be largely removed. Fat soluble vitamins on the other hand, and one in particular as we shall see, are concentrated instead.
Finally, while it does contain some omega-3 alpha linolenic fatty acids, the amount is relatively small (taking a good fish oil or using flaxseed oil on your hair is your best bet here). Far more important, from a hair benefits point of view, is the extremely high content of monounsaturated fatty acids in avocado oil.
Avocado Oil Hair Growth Nutrients
The monounsaturated fatty acid content in avocado oil is even higher than extra virgin olive oil and is one of the main reasons it is so good for your hair. Many people’s hair is dry, damaged and weak from poor nutrition, heat styling, chemical treatments and environmental pollution. Monounsaturated fats, when applied directly in a hair mask, can moisturize, nourish and strengthen hair strands, improving the way they look and protecting them from damage.
Massaging avocado oil into your scalp also stimulates blood flow to your hair follicles. With improved blood flow and circulation to the scalp, more nutrients can reach the follicles to stimulate new growth and healthier hair in general.
Finally, and perhaps most beneficially for hair care, its monounsaturated fatty acids, phytosterols and high levels of antioxidants like vitamin E, are well absorbed into our scalp and hair shafts. This not only has a highly moisturizing and protective effect against environmental stressors and damage, it may also stimulate new growth and help unclog blocked follicles.
The combination of antioxidant vitamin E, moisturizing plants sterols and the rich levels of monounsaturated fatty acids in avocado oil, provides three different nutrients that have been individually recommended for stimulating hair growth, in one simple, highly absorbable topical treatment.
While there are no clinical trials I’m aware of (and are unlikely to be since pharmaceutical companies can’t patent natural treatments), many people report positive results with using avocado oil for hair growth.
3 Ways to Use Avocado Oil for Better Hair
Applying a good cold pressed avocado oil to your hair will improve its appearance and texture while strengthening and moisturizing the strands. See the page on treatments for some simple homemade ideas that are likely to be far more effective than your expensive store bought conditioners.
Massaging avocado oil into your scalp stimulates circulation and allows it to penetrate in deeply, providing beneficial nutrients, unclogging blocked follicles and, it is reported for many people, stimulating new growth.
Last but not least, use the oil for healthier cooking and as a recipe addition or salad dressing. Good nutrition on the inside can be just as important for strong and healthy hair in the long run.

Avocado Oil For Your Hair:
Many of us already know this but I must reiterate this point. Avocado oil is great overall for your hair and specifically for your scalp. The oil boost blood circulation in your scalp which we all know stimulates growth. Also, its properties inhibit flaking and dryness in your scalp which also helps stimulate growth by aiding to keep the follicles clear of obstructions. The fact that avocado oil is rich in vitamin E and the B Vitamins lends to the fact that avocado oil strengthens your hair. Overall, avocado oil is a great carrier oil to use when you’re doing your daily scalp massages.
Here are some great avocado hair treatment ideas for your hair:
Avocado Oil Hair Treatment Idea #1:
Hot Oil Treatment:
Blend three to five tablespoons of avocado oil (depending on length of your hair) with three to five tablespoons of extra virgin coconut oil and heat them in a saucepan on a very low heat until warmed to a comfortable temperature.
If you have it, you can add a few drops of rosemary essential oil and mix it in. Other essential oils like lavender or sandalwood can also be used, but rosemary oil is known to be especially good for the hair and scalp.
Apply the oil to freshly washed hair and gently massage it in. Cover with a shower cap, or ideally wrap it in a very warm towel you don’t mind washing and leave for fifteen to twenty minutes. Wash out as normal.
Avocado Oil Hair Treatment Idea #2:
Whisk up two tablespoons of avocado oil, two tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil, 1 tablespoon of honey and 3 tablespoons of natural yogurt (the real yogurt, not the sugary ‘fruit’ stuff).
Smooth all over damp hair, cover with a shower cap and leave for 15 to 20 minutes. Wash out thoroughly, preferably with a chemical free shampoo, but as with the hot oil treatment, you won’t need any store bought conditioner after this treatment has done its work.
Avocado Oil Hair Treatment Idea #3:
Add a tablespoon of avocado oil to your regular conditioner and rinse out as normal.
Avocado Hair Treatment Idea #1:
Using an avocado conditioner promotes hair that feels soft and is more elastic. The high-fat content of avocados makes hair less dry and prone to breakage. After washing your hair with shampoo, apply the avocado conditioner and leave for five to 10 minutes before rinsing with warm water. Make your own avocado conditioner by mashing avocados into a paste and adding enough water to make a paste-like solution.
Avocado Hair Treatment Idea #2:
To make a moisturizing mask, mash an avocado into paste, then mix it with 1/4 cup of steel-cut or rolled oats. Combine the paste with 1/8 to 1/4 cup of olive oil, depending on your hair’s dryness. Add 1 cup of milk and stir well. Smooth the mixture over your hair; wait for 30 minutes and rinse. To make a detangling conditioner, put 1/4 cup of olive oil, 1/2 cup of shea butter, 2 tablespoons of apple-cider vinegar and one sliced avocado in a blender. Blend until smooth, apply to hair and wait for 30 minutes. Rinse well for soft, shiny locks.
Avocado Hair Treatment Idea #3:
Combine one chopped avocado and one egg yoke in a bowl. Add enough water to make a workable paste. Apply the mixture to damp hair and massage into the hair and scalp. Pile hair on top of your head and leave for 20 minutes before rinsing with warm water.
Avocado Oil For Your Skin:
The benefits of avocado oil for your skin is where this carrier oil really shines. In fact, it seems as though the list of benefits of avocado oil for your skin doesn’t end. Avocado oil is a great oil for slowing the aging process as it stimulates collagen production while increasing the skins elasticity. The fact that avocado oil stimulates collagen production make it great for heading off those fine lines that tend to pop up around the eyes. It also slows down the emergence of “age spots” on the skin. Also, avocado oil is a natural moisturizer for your skin, nourishing dehydrated skin while softening the skin as well.
The anti-inflammatory benefits of avocado oil relieves itchiness as well as treating common ailments like eczema and psoriasis. Avocado oil is a natural UV protectant that helps not only prevent sunburn but helps you heal from it when you are unlucky enough to enjoy the summer time sun a little too much.
One common thing avocado oil is used for which many people overlook is the fact that it acts a great makeup remover. So when you’re looking for a natural alternative for your hair and skin care products, definitely consider avocado oil.
Avocado oil is one of the better oils to use on our natural hair since it contains a high amount (approximately 72%) of monounsaturated fatty acids – which is higher than most other oils, including coconut and grapeseed. Want to know how to use it? Here are 12 ways:
1. To enhance a moisturizer. Monounsaturated oils may readily penetrate into the hair strand [1]. Additionally, oils with a slight polarity tend to have an affinity for the cortex [2]. Because avocado oil has these two characteristics, it may easily penetrate into the cortex of the hair strand, which few oils can do. Thus, it has the potential to enhance your current moisturizer. Try mixing the oil with your store-bought product or into your homemade whipped butter.
2. As a carrier oil. Avocado oil penetrates the skin fairly easily when compared to some oils, such as olive or almond [3]. It is also moderately low on the comedogenic scale (i.e., not as clogging as some other oils such as coconut). Because of these qualities, it can make a great carrier oil for your essential oils.
3. To moisturize your scalp. Avocado oil is nothing like other oils which leave a greasy film on the surface of the skin. It readily melts into the epidermis, thus making it a useful option for moisturizing a dry scalp.
4. To add slip to a deep conditioner. Not all deep conditioners have a natural slip and this can be annoying for some naturals. Try adding avocado oil, which has just the right consistency to create the lubrication you need. Additionally, since avocado oil might readily penetrate into the hair shaft, you may have an added bonus of increased elasticity!
Rosemary oil is one of the most popular essential oils for its wide array of health benefits. It has become increasingly important and popular over the years as more of its various health benefits have become understood, including its ability to stimulate hair growth, boost mental activity, relieve respiratory problems and reduce pain.
Rosemary, also known as Rosmarinus Officinalis, is very popular in the Mediterranean region as a culinary herb. Many dishes are cooked with rosemary oil and freshly plucked rosemary leaves. Rosemary essential oil is mostly extracted from the leaves. The rosemary bush belongs to the mint family which includes basil, lavender, myrtle, and sage.
Rosemary has been extensively used since ancient times for a variety of purposes. The Romans gave special importance to the rosemary plant and used it frequently in religious ceremonies. It was also used during wedding ceremonies, food preparation, cosmetic care, and medicinal herbal care. Rosemary plant and its extract were also used by the ancient, Egyptian civilization as incense.
rosemary2The health benefits of rosemary essential oil made it a favorite of Paracelsus, a renowned German-Swiss physician and botanist, who made significant contributions to the understanding of herbal medicine during the 16th century. Paracelsus valued rosemary oil due because of its ability to strengthen the entire body. He correctly believed that rosemary oil had the ability to heal delicate organs such as the liver, brain, and heart.

Health Benefits of Rosemary Oil
Today, many medicinal preparations contain rosemary oil. The various, well-researched health benefits of rosemary oil are listed below:
Indigestion: Rosemary oil is often used for indigestion, relieving flatulence, stomach cramps, constipation, and bloating. Rosemary essential oil is also thought to relieve symptoms of dyspepsia and it is an appetite stimulant. Furthermore, research has shown the essential oil to be detoxifying for the liver, and it also helps to regulate the creation and release of bile, which is a key part of the digestive process. It also stimulates blood flow and improves circulation, which can benefit the absorption of nutrients from food. Rosemary leaves are often added to meat dishes because it is particularly helpful in digesting meat, particularly lamb, beef and pork.
Hair care: Rosemary oil and rosemary teas are widely used for hair care in shampoos and lotions. Regular use of rosemary oil helps to stimulate follicles, making hair grow longer and stronger. It is also believed that rosemary oil slows down premature hair loss and graying of the hair. Therefore, it is an excellent tonic for bald people or those who are beginning to show signs on male pattern baldness.
Rosemary essential oil is also beneficial for dry and flaky scalps. Regular massaging of the scalp with rosemary oil nourishes the scalp and removes dandruff. Furthermore, it is often mixed with tea tree oil and basil oil to alternately treat scalp problems. For many years, rosemary has been combined with olive oil as a way to darken and strengthen hair by using hot oil treatments.
Mouth care: Rosemary essential oil is a disinfectant and is often used as a mouth wash. It also helps in removing bad breath. By removing oral bacteria, rosemary essential oil can prevent gingivitis, cavities, plaque build up, and other damaging dental conditions.
Skin care: Rosemary essential oil is not used in skin care as extensively as it is used in hair care, but it does have antimicrobial and antiseptic qualities that make it beneficial in efforts to eliminate eczema, dermatitis, oily skin, and acne. Topical application of the essential oil, or regular massage with the oil helps in toning your skin and removing dryness. It can also give your skin a healthy, even glow when regularly applied, or when it is a main component of your moisturizers and other creams.
Boosting mental activity: Rosemary essential oil is an excellent brain and nerve tonic. It is often used by students during exam times because it increases concentration and helps in studying efficiently. It stimulates mental activity and is a good remedy for depression, mental fatigue and forgetfulness. Inhaling rosemary oil seems lift your spirits immediately. Whenever your brain is tired, try inhaling a little rosemary oil to remove boredom and renew your mental energy.
In a 2003 study, researchers found that of 144 test participants who inhaled rosemary oil during an exam displayed significantly higher cognitive function. This is why some researchers are beginning to explore the options for using rosemary oil as an alternative treatment for slowing down the onset of Alzheimer’s disease in certain patients because of this apparent connection between boosted neural activity and the essential oil.
Stress Relief: Aside from the relaxing nature of aromatherapy and general inhalation of rosemary essential oil, it has been proven to actually decrease the level of cortisol in the saliva. Cortisol is one of the main stress hormones that are released during the “flight or fight” response of the body to stress. Excess cortisol in the blood that may occur due to chronic stress can wreak havoc on the body, including its hormonal balance and the efficiency of the metabolism. A study released in 2007 said that inhaling rosemary oil and lavender oil for five minutes significantly reduced the levels of cortisol in the test subject’s saliva, which could seriously decrease the dangers inherent from chronic stress.
Immune System Boost: Antioxidants are some of the most valuable defensive weapons we have in our body for fighting off infection and disease, so any food or essential oil that either adds to or stimulates the activity of antioxidants is a huge benefit to overall health. The same study which found that cortisol levels decreased after simultaneous massage and inhalation of rosemary essential oil also found that the scavenging free radical activity in the test subjects’ bodies also increased significantly. This means that regular use or inhalation of rosemary essential oil in aromatherapy sessions or in other ways can increase the strength of the immune system and help combat all of the diseases associated with free radicals, including cancer and heart disease.
Pain relief: The ability of rosemary essential oil to relieve pain has resulted in its extensive use in treating headaches, muscle pains, rheumatism and even arthritis. Massaging the affected area that is in pain with rosemary essential oil can give quickly relieve the pain. Vapor baths with rosemary oil are also found to be effective in the treatment of rheumatism. It has certain anti-inflammatory qualities as well, which makes it very good for relieving the pain from sprains and joint aches. Furthermore, it is known to stimulate blood circulation, which can relieve pain and also aid in coagulation of wounds for faster healing.
Aroma: Rosemary has a mesmerizing aroma, which makes rosemary essential oil an excellent inhalant. The oil is used in room fresheners, cosmetics, beauty aids, food, bath oil, candles and perfumes because of its unique and intoxicating aroma. When the oil is inhaled, it can boost mental energy and is also known to clear the respiratory tract. Many people spray a mixture of rosemary essential oil and water to remove bad odors from room and objects.
rosemaryessentialoilSexually Transmitted Diseases: Recent research suggests that the use of rosemary essential oil’s antimicrobial qualities can help reduce the effects and recurring inflammation of the herpes virus. The herpes virus can quickly develop immunity to normal antiviral medication, so alternative methods are always being explored. A number of studies have now shown the essential oil of rosemary to be an effective option for reducing the symptoms of the Herpes virus in test subjects, and even affects the level of contagiousness of the virus.
Respiratory problems: The benefits of rosemary essential oil in treating respiratory problems are well-researched and supported. The scent of the oil has been shown to give relief from throat congestion, and it is also used in the treatment of respiratory allergies, colds, sore throats and the flu. Since rosemary oil also has antiseptic qualities, it is also effective for respiratory infections. The oil is antispasmodic and is therefore used in some treatment programs for bronchial asthma.
There are various other claims regarding possible health benefits of rosemary oil, including its usage for disorders in menstrual cycle, menstrual cramps, peptic ulcer, urine flow, prostate, gall bladder, intestine, liver, cataract, heart, sperm mobility, leukemia, kidney stones and associated pain. Research is currently being performed to study its potential in treating various types of cancers including those of the colon, stomach, breasts, and lungs.
Rosemary oil may, at times, cause allergic reactions, so it should only be used if prescribed or after thorough consultation with your medical specialist. Since rosemary oil is volatile in nature, the oil has occasionally caused vomiting and spasms. Therefore, it should never be ingested. It is strongly suggested that rosemary essential oil should not be used by pregnant, breastfeeding, or nursing women. Excessive use of the oil may even lead to miscarriage or a disability in the fetus.
Rosemary essential oil is used extensively in aromatherapy due to its versatility as a welcome aroma in so many popular combinations. The oil blends well with frankincense, lavender, clary sage, cedarwood, basil, thyme, citronella, lemongrass, elemi, geranium, chamomile, peppermint and cardamom.
The olive oil was first found in Asia almost 3000 years back, and has been extensively used since then as a natural remedy for healing wounds.
However, it was the Mediterranean people who first recognized the actual worth of this plant, using it for a range of purposes – something more than just a healing agent.
It was these ingenious people who first recognized that the oil extracted from olive, widely known as olive oil today, contains a lot of monounsaturated fat;
this exerts a positive effect on your blood cholesterol levels and combats other cardiovascular diseases as well.
The extracted oil was also used as an effective moisturizer and an excellent treatment for skin irritations.
It’s only of late that the rest of the planet woke up to the numerous health benefits of olive oil, and switched over to a healthier form of this oil.
Olive oil is a fantastic conditioner for hair, but there are many other things about this essential oil that make it a great go-to for hair care.
It’s also one of the top emollients that can penetrate the hair better than others, and its lightweight nature makes it great for moisturizing.
Olive oil also contains anti-inflammatory properties that promote scalp health and prevent dandruff. Extra virgin olive oil is also rich in high levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E, an antioxidant important for hair growth.
Olive oil is not likely to cause an allergic reaction, making it ideal for sensitive skin and hair.
Olive oil is well sought after for dietary as well as beauty purposes because it is so nutrient rich. In the carrier oils it is ranked very highly with coconut, avocado and castor oils. It is a very powerful carrier oil because it contains the emollient squalene which is very penetrative. Squalene penetrates deep within the hair follicle and does not leave an oily feel behind. Besides its penetrating quality which is a god send for dry haired ladies, this oil contains vitamins A and E which also repairs the little nicks and cracks along the hair shaft.
Here are some of the benefits itemized:
Repairs Damage: There are several things that we do knowingly and unknowingly that can damage our hair, chemicals, heat, weather, the list can go on. What olive oil does is to re-hydrate the hair by penetrating the shaft and protects the hair by sealing in the moisture. Overtime, a consistent use of olive oil can make a big difference to not only the appearance of the hair but the tensile strength of it too.
Clears Up Dry Scalp: It fights dry scalp by restoring moisture to the scalp. A very good practice is to massage olive oil into the scalp before any chemical treatments or hair processes that can cause dryness, even washing the hair with harsh chemicals can be cause for dryness.
Shine Booster: there is no need to buy a sheen-boosting product if you have a bottle of olive oil handy. Olive oil enhances sheen by coating the outer layer of your hair shaft. It allows the little scales that are along your hair shaft to be locked down pretty tightly, giving the hair a smooth, shiny appearance. Whilst most oils can give you the appearance of sheen, olive oil like its counterpart coconut, avocado and castor actually add many benefits when applied.
Enhances Hair Growth: We all know by now that no product, no matter how wonderful, can make your hair grow faster than your genetics dictate. However, olive oil has antioxidants that are effective in the treatment of hair loss by blocking DTH (the hormone that causes hair follicle to decrease), it is also a natural conditioner for hair, which can promote the ideal conditions for hair growth.
Types of Olive Oil
Olive oil is in high demand; persons use it for so many things including beauty that there seems to be an addition of olive oil to most beauty products. But are they really beneficial?
It is up to users to know which oils will yield the most benefit. There are three basic grades of olive oil, and several types within each grade.
1. Extra virgin- includes “premium extra virgin” and “extra virgin”; made from the first pressing of the olives, which removes about 90 percent of the olives’ juice. Chemicals and high heat are not allowed in the production of extra-virgin or virgin oils — no further processing or refining occurs after the pressing process. Neither extra-virgin nor virgin oils are allowed to contain any refined olive oil. “Extra-virgin olive oil” has a fruity taste and may be pale yellow to bright green in color. In general, the deeper the color, the more flavor it yields. And as you know, the closest a product is to nature the better it is for your body.
2. Virgin- comprises “fine virgin,” “virgin,” and “semi-fine virgin” The difference between extra virgin and virgin and where they rank is just half a percentage point of acidity. Virgin olive oil can also impart antioxidant benefits to the hair and skin as discussed above.
3. Olive oil- includes what used to be called “pure olive oil” and “refined oil.” Some olive oil is further refined after the first pressing. These three types of oils can no longer bear the title “virgin.” When virgin oils are not fit for human consumption, they are sent to a processing plant where they become “refined olive oils.” There they undergo processing with agents that might include heat, chemicals, and/or filtration. These refined olive oils become clear, odorless, and flavourless. These are the least desirable oils to be used on the hair because they have been heavily processed and most of the benefits mentioned in this article are not in these oils.
The Best Type Of Olive Oil To Use For Hair
Hence the best olive oil to use in the hair is the extra virgin oil or the virgin oil which is rich in high levels of mono-unsaturated fatty acids and Vitamin E. Both mono-unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E are good for moisturizing, protecting and nourishing hair. Refined olive oil does not have the emollient properties, which is often recommended for treating hair loss or battling dandruff.
How To Use Olive Oil For Hair
Everyday- if you have dry, itchy scalp apply olive oil directly to the itching flaking area.
Massage- apply olive oil to the scalp and gently massage into the scalp with circular motions.
Pre-Relaxer- apply olive oil generously to the scalp and the entire hair shaft at least two days before a relaxer treatment. It will make a difference in dry scalp conditions after a relaxer especially if you use no-lye solutions.
Post Relaxer- apply olive oil to scalp and hair shaft, after a relaxer treatment, do not use petroleum-based products.
Shampoo- One tablespoon of extra virgin or virgin olive oil added to your shampoo will boost its benefits.
Conditioner- A combination of olive oil and lavender oil can be used as a natural conditioner. Left on the hair overnight and then washed out in the morning. For those who are sticklers to a creamy conditioning routine, a tablespoon of olive oil added to your regular deep conditioner will work wonders for dry hair. Added to regular conditioner will increase the penetrative quality of regular conditioner.
Hot Oil Treatment- Put only the oil you will need in a bottle or bowl and place it in hot water to warm up, apply to hair and cover with a plastic cap. Do not heat up all your oil especially if it is extra virgin oil, only heat up what you will need.
Combined with other oils- you can combine olive oil with essential oils to boost their penetration into your hair shaft. There is no need to mix olive oil with other carrier oils; it works just as well on its own.
See a list of carrier and essential oils and their uses here.
What Is Extra Virgin Olive Oil? And What are the different Grades?
Based on the level of processing performed on pure olive oil, it’s available in the market in four different varieties – extra virgin olive oil (obtained from lowest level of processing); virgin olive oil (obtained from second pressings on the olive); pure olive oil (obtained from rigorous processing like refining and filtering); extra light oil (obtained after huge processing, and has very delicate olive flavours in it).
Nevertheless, out of all these different varieties, the one that’s purest and healthiest is the extra virgin olive oil. The oil is produced by cold pressing freshly harvested olives, without any usage of chemicals or artificial flavours. In fact, it is the only vegetable oil that can be consumed in its natural form, without any processing or adulteration. Some of its top health benefits originate from its high content of antioxidants and fatty acids. It’s astonishing that something so minute or small can prove so beneficial to you.

The health benefits of Tea Tree Essential Oil can be attributed to its properties as an antibacterial, antimicrobial, antiseptic, antiviral, balsamic, cicatrisant, expectorant, fungicide, insecticide, stimulant and sudorific substance.
Unlike the name suggests, the essential oil of Tea Tree is not extracted from the plant commonly associated with tea as a beverage. Neither is it related to Tea Oil, which is extracted from the seed of the Tea plant. Instead, it is extracted through steam distillation of twigs and leaves of Tea Tree, which has the botanical name Melaleuca Alternifolia. The tea tree is native to Southeast Queensland and New South Wales, in Australia, which is why it is such a common and popular essential oil in that country. However, its impressive qualities have spread to other parts of the world, so it can no be found internationally.
The main constituents of Tea Tree essential oil are Alpha Pinene, Beta Pinene, Sabinene, Myrcene, Alpha Phellandrene, Alpha Terpinene, Limonene, Cineole, Gamma Terpinene, Para Cymene, Terpinolene, Linalool, Terpinenol and Alpha Terpineol. This tree is native to Australia and its oil has been used and known among the original inhabitants of that continent as a cure-all medicine since ancient times.
The reputation as a cure-all given to this oil is not an exaggeration. Tea tree oil can be used as a cure for almost all tropical infections and diseases. You name it and it has some sort of positive effect or treatment for that disease. It is invariably found in almost the households of Australia, particularly those that have small children. The magical healing and disinfectant properties make it a wonder drug that also boosts your immunity. However, it is not meant to be ingested, and is poisonous. It is meant for topical application only!
There is so much more to tea tree essential oil than a boosted immune system and a protective agent for your skin; let’s explore some of those other invaluable health benefits below.
Health Benefits of Tea Tree Essential Oil
teatreeAntibacterial: It is said that when Mother Nature creates a diseases, she also creates the cure. The activity of microbes, bacteria, viruses and fungi are at their peak in the Tropics, so most of the medicinal plants to treat those dangerous things are found there too. Tea tree is one such plant. It can cure some of the most horrible and dangerous bacterial infections found in the tropics. Wounds, which are prone to contracting bacterial infections in this region, can be effectively cured and protected using this oil. This oil is seldom taken orally, but if you do, it should be in mild concentrations. It can cure internal bacterial infections such as those in the colon, stomach, intestines, excretory system and urinary system. It can also be used in treatment of tuberculosis.
Balsamic: The essential oil of Tea tree has balsamic properties that generally boost health. It promotes the absorption of nutrients from food and gives protection from diseases as well, meaning that overall it is a positive addition to our lives.
Cicatrisant: The Cicatrisant property of this essential oil makes it heal wounds quickly and protects them from infections. Furthermore, it can help neutralize or diminish the scar marks and after spots left by eruptions, boils, pox, and acne.
Antimicrobial: Microbes don’t stand a chance against this oil, since it is a highly effective antimicrobial substance. It can kill and keep away certain microbes (protozoa) which are responsible for causing severe tropical fevers and malaria.
Antiviral: Viral infections are very hazardous and are frequently recurring, since viruses can survive under very harsh conditions. They can bear unimaginable heat, cold and even poison, because they develop a protective shell called a “Cyst” around them. Some viruses are intelligent enough to develop a new cyst each time they are activated, like the Common Cold Virus, in order to trick our immune system. They never die naturally and can live dormant (neither alive or dead) for hundreds or even thousands of years. They can be killed only if their cyst is ruptured using a particular compound or if they are subjected to extreme heat which is beyond their tolerance. The Tea Tree Oil helps rupture this cyst in some viruses and can give protection against them. It also helps cure viral infections like the common cold, influenza, mumps, measles, and pox.
Expectorant: People who are suffering from cough and cold, congestion, bronchitis and other troubles associated with colds, are sure to get relief using tea tree essential oil. It provides relief from cough, cold, bronchitis and congestion. It can be rubbed on the chest and inhaled while sleeping, or a drop can be placed on the pillow so it can do its magical work at night, and you can wake up feeling much better in the morning.

Hair Care: The stimulant property of tea tree essential oil can be very beneficial for taking care of certain hair conditions. If you suffer from dandruff or hair loss, simply apply a diluted amount of tea tree essential oil to your scalp. The increased blood flow that you experience will help your follicle stay healthy and strengthen the hold on your hair, so you won’t suffer from premature hair loss. Also, since the skin will become healthier, it will be easier to keep moisturized, reducing the amount of dandruff and dry skin!
Insecticide: It is obvious that an essential oil that is so deadly for bacteria and viruses will be effective against insects as well. Tea tree oil is an efficient insect deterrent and insect killer. It does not let parasites and other insects like mosquitoes, fleas, lice, or flies come near someone who has rubbed some of this oil on their body. It kills internal insects and worms too, such as intestinal worms like round worms, tape worms, and hook worms, because it can be absorbed by your body and skin.
Antiseptic: Open wounds are the most susceptible place to infection by bacteria and fungi and may result in sepsis or tetanus. Thus they must be protected well in advance.Tea tree oil can be a wise preventative choice as it is an excellent antiseptic. It can be applied directly on the wounds, boils, sores, cuts or certain eruptions, including insect bites and stings, to protect them from infections. It is as good as any antibiotic, but without any of their adverse side effects.
Stimulant: This essential oil has a stimulating effect on hormone secretions, blood circulation, and most importantly, on the immune system. It boosts immunity and acts as a shield against many different types of infections. That is why it is quite popular in aromatherapy, because not only does it blend well with many other oils, it can also provide you with internal benefits that would otherwise be impossible, since you are not allowed to ingest tea tree essential oil.
teatreeinfographicSudorific: Besides infections, another cause of disease is an accumulation of toxins in the body. These toxins are generated by the body itself, formed as a by-product of various reactions, or they get inside the body in some way. Our body has certain mechanisms to eliminate these toxins. One of them is perspiration or sweating, which has the its advantages, including removing toxins, moistening the skin, opening pores on the skin and keeping the body cool. Tea tree essential oil, being a sudorific substance, increases sweating and promotes the removal of toxins like uric acid. It also helps remove excess water and salts from the body, while cleaning the pores. This further prevents the occurrence of acne, for which tea tree essential oil is often recommended.
Fungicide: The Tea Tree Essential Oil is as effective against fungal infections as it is against any bacterial or microbial infections. It inhibits fungal growth and cures diseases like dermatitis and Athlete’s Foot. Although internal fungal infections can be very dangerous, and even deadly, never ingest tea tree oil, even in extremely diluted forms, as it is toxic. Other herbal remedies for fungal infections can be used that are far safer for internal infections.
Other Benefits: Tea tree essential oil can provide relief from muscular pain, aches, and sprains because its strong chemical properties can work as an anti-inflammatory and also encourage blood flow to a specific area (being a stimulant), which speeds up the healing process and increases the rate of new tissue and cellular growth.
A Few Words of Caution: Although there are no inherent risks of topically applying tea tree oil, in some rare cases, people may be overly sensitive to the oil, as a form of a minor allergenic. However, there have been numerous reports of people who accidentally consume tea tree oil, and this should be strictly avoided. The side effects of consuming tea tree essential oil can be quite serious, and they include confusion, hallucinations, drowsiness, coma, unsteadiness, severe rashes, vomiting, diarrhea, general weakness, stomach upset, blood cell abnormalities. This should always be kept away from pets and children.

Research
Lavender Oil & Hair Growth
A study by a group of dermatologists in Scotland showed that 44 percent of alopecia patients who were tested experienced new hair growth when they massaged their scalp daily with lavender and other essential oils for seven months.
The health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to eliminate nervous tension, relieve pain, disinfect the scalp and skin, enhance blood circulation and treat respiratory problems. The Latin name of lavender is Lavare, which means “to wash”, due to its aroma which has a particularly clean aroma.
Lavender oil is extracted mostly from the flowers of the lavender plant, primarily through steam distillation. The flowers of lavender are fragrant in nature and have been used for making potpourri for centuries. Traditionally, lavender essential oil has also been used in making perfumes. The oil is very useful in aromatherapy and many aromatic preparations and combinations are made using lavender oil.
Lavender oil blends well with many other essential oils including cedarwood, pine, clary sage, geranium, and nutmeg. Today, lavender essential oil is frequently used in various forms including aromatherapy oil, gels, infusion, lotion, and soaps.
Health Benefits of Lavender Essential Oil
The various health benefits of lavender essential oil include the following:
Bug Repellent: The smell of lavender essential oil is potent for many types of bugs like mosquitoes, midges, and moths. Apply some of the lavender oil on the exposed skin when outside to prevent these irritating bites. Furthermore, if you do happen to be bitten by one of those bugs, the lavender essential oil has anti-inflammatory qualities that will reduce the irritation and the pain associated with bug bites.
Sleep: Lavender essential oil induces sleep which has made it a common recommendation for an alternative treatment of insomnia. Frequent studies on elderly patients have shown an increase in their sleep regularity when their normal sleep medication is replaced with some lavender essential oil being placed on their pillows. It has such a relaxing impact on people that it can often replace modern medicine for sleep issues.
Nervous system: Lavender essential oil has a calming scent which makes it an excellent tonic for the nerves and anxiety issues. Therefore, it can also be helpful in treating migraines, headaches, depression, nervous tension and emotional stress. The refreshing aroma removes nervous exhaustion and restlessness while also increasing mental activity. It has a well-researched impact on the autonomic nervous system, which is why it is frequently used as a treatment for insomnia and also as a way to regulate heart-rate variability. One study showed that people taking tests showed a significant decrease in mental stress and anxiety, as well as increased cognitive function when they inhaled lavender oil and rosemary oil before taking the exam!
LavenderessentialoilAcne: According to dermatologists and aromatherapists, lavender essential oil is one of the most beneficial oils in the treatment of acne, which is a very uncomfortable and embarrassing condition that primarily affects young people as they move through puberty, but can also afflict adults. It is characterized by red, raised sores on the face and body that develop due to a bacterial infection near the sebum gland. When sebum cannot be properly secreted from the sebum glands on the face, it begins to build up, particularly because puberty stimulates extra sebum and bacteria feeds off of it, creating a vicious cycle of irritation, infection, and visible sores that can result in serious scarring.
Lavender essential oil inhibits the bacteria that cause the initial infection, helps to regulate some of the over-excretion of sebum by hormonal manipulation, and can reduce the signs of scarring after the acne has begun to heal. Adding a small amount of lavender essential oil to other skin creams or ointments can greatly increase the potential for relief and healing.
Pain relief: Lavender essential oil is known as an excellent remedy for various types of pains including those caused by sore and tense muscles, muscular aches, rheumatism, sprains, backache and lumbago. A regular massage with lavender oil can also provide relief from pain in the joints. A study done on postoperative pain relief showed that combining lavender essential oil vapor into the oxygen significantly reduced the amount of pain experienced, versus those patients only revived with oxygen after a major surgery.
Urine flow: Lavender essential oil is good for urinary disorders because of its stimulating effect on urine production. Furthermore, it helps in restoring hormonal balance and reducing cystitis or inflammation of the urinary bladder. It also reduces any associated cramps with these and other disorders.
Respiratory disorders: Lavender oil is widely used for various respiratory problems including throat infections, flu, cough, cold, asthma, sinus congestion, bronchitis, whooping cough, laryngitis, and tonsillitis. The oil is either used in the form of vapor or is applied on the skin of the neck, chest and back. It is also added to many vaporizers and inhalers that are commonly used for colds and coughs. The stimulating nature of lavender essential oil can also loosen up the phlegm and relieve the congestion associated with respiratory conditions, speeding up the recovery process and helping the body naturally eliminate phlegm and other unwanted material. The vapor of lavender essential oil also has antibacterial qualities which can battle respiratory tract infections.
Hair care: Lavender essential oil is useful for hair care because it has been shown to be very effective on lice, lice eggs, and nits. Furthermore, lavender essential oil has also been shown to be very helpful in the treatment of hair loss, particularly for patients who suffer from alopecia, an autoimmune disease where the body rejects its own hair follicles. A Sottish study reported that more than 40% of alopecia patients in the study reported an increase in hair growth when they regularly rubbed lavender essential oil into their scalp. Therefore, lavender oil is sometimes recommended as a preventative measure for male pattern baldness!
Cancer: Although more research needs to be done on human subjects, there is significant research on the effects of lavender, in combination with other essential oils, as a way to prevent the occurrence of breast cancer in mice. However, this could be an indication of an increased chance of lavender battling other carcinogenic effects and the presence of cancer.
Blood circulation: Lavender essential oil is also good for improving the circulation of blood in the body. It also lowers blood pressure and is often used for hypertension. This means that not only do the organs increase their levels of oxygenation, promoting muscle strength and health, but brain activity can have a noticeable boost, skin remains bright and flushed with blood, and the body is protected from the risks of heart attack and artherosclerosis that is often associated with poor circulation. Finally, in terms of diabetic patients, the application or inhalation of lavender essential oil can prevent some of their serious risks of low circulation, which can lead to dangerous or even fatal complications.
Digestion: Lavender oil is useful for digestion because it increases the mobility of food within the intestine. The oil also stimulates the production of gastric juices and bile, thus aiding in the treatment of indigestion, stomach pain, colic, flatulence, vomiting and diarrhea.
lavenderoilImmunity: Regular use of lavender essential oil provides resistance to a variety of diseases. It is well-known that lavender has antibacterial and antiviral qualities that make it perfect for defending the body against rare diseases like TB, typhoid, and diphtheria, according to early research in the 20th century.
General Skin care: The health benefits of lavender oil for the skin can be attributed to its antiseptic and antifungal properties. It is used to treat various skin disorders such as acne, wrinkles, psoriasis, and other inflammatory conditions. It is commonly used to speed up the healing process of wounds, cuts, burns, and sunburns because it improves the formation of scar tissues. Lavender oil is also added to chamomile to treat eczema.
Other: Other health benefits of lavender essential oil include its ability to treat leucorrhoea. The oil can also used to repel mosquitoes and moths, which is why you will find many mosquito repellents that contain lavender oil as one of the primary ingredients.
As with many other essential oils, pregnant and breastfeeding women should avoid using lavender essential oil. It is also recommended that patients with diabetes stay away from lavender oil. It may also cause allergic reactions to people that have unusually sensitive skin. Some people may also witness nausea, vomiting and headaches due to either common or excessive use of lavender oil.
Perhaps most importantly, lavender oil should never be ingested, only topically applied or inhaled through means of aromatherapy or similar activities. Ingestion can cause serious health complications, characterized by blurred vision, difficult breathing, burning eyes, vomiting, and diarrhea. So, even if you think that lavender oil is a wonderful miracle cure, don’t get excited and start putting it on your food!

It is a perennial, bushy shrub with silvery, grey or green linear leaves and purple, violet or blue spiky flowers. This variety of Lavender come from Bulgaria which has become increasingly popular over the last few years for Lavender production as the climate and soil lends itself perfectly to the production of consistent and high quality lavender.
Not only known for its gorgeous scent, it has proven hair benefits and is good for all hair types. Lavender oil is extracted mostly from the flowers of the lavender plant, primarily through steam distillation. It is a good treatment for dandruff and itching, helpful in controlling hair breakage and improving hair growth.

Mix 2-10 drops of essential oil (depending on its strength) with a few tablespoons or more of carrier oil before using.
Women who are pregnant or nursing should take special care to note which essential oils are not recommended for use during these times. Please consult with your physician before you start using any stimulating essential oils
